Hi there everyone,
Trust that every one is well, and that
you are looking forward to our next Social Support Evening,
our 44th which is on, Friday May 9th 2008, at our
usual venue, Brothertoft Village Hall, Langrick Road, Brothertoft, Boston, PE20 3SW. (B1192) From 7:30 pm till 11 pm.
We had a really good sociable evening in April.
It was good to see all our regular supporters and also
to welcome Cynthia from Dundee and her friends Kath and Dave, also to welcome Kira from Boston for
their very first visits to us, we do hope that you enjoyed our little get together and we hope that we shall see you all again,
very soon.
Had this nice message from Cynthia
in Dundee,
Hi...
Just a wee note to thank you and the girls of the
Boston Belles for the kind welcome and a very pleasant evening. I shall certainly come again when next I'm down to visit my
friends...
Many thanks...
love Cynthia X
We are all sorry to hear than Gemma from Grimsby is back in hospital and wish her
a really speedy recovery,
Get well soon Gemma, we all miss you.
We hope that you are all enjoying the BOSTON BELLES,
so that we shall be here to support all our "sisters" who come along in the future. We look forward to seeing you all again next month, please do remember that we are all, your
friends, so please don't loose touch with us, real friends are not easily come by these days.
Please also remember that we offer a free totally confidential support service,

fe-mail or arrange a face to face meeting.
Get chatting to all your friends and please do encourage them to come along and join us, we
really are a very friendly bunch.
Hope you all had a good and safe journey home and we hope
that we see you all again at our next social support evenings, tucked away in our small corner
of the Lincolnshire countryside!
I would like to mention here that the photo displays at the Brothertoft evenings are ONLY
used at Brothertoft.
They are not used for any other purposes.
If you would like your photographs used in our public displays please do let me know, the
more that we can use the better but it is up to you to let me know, it would be nice to have more to use, as the public will
get fed up with just a few of us all the time!!
There is a page for you to have your favourite photograph displayed,
so if you would like to see yours on the site, send me the photo and the wording you would like above and below it, and
I will do the rest.
Don't be shy? Send in your best Photo now, so every one can see you
at your best. We have some lovely girls coming to our evenings, so send in your picture for this page. If you don't
have a picture, ask me at the Boston Belles and I will always take one and put it on the site for you
There is also a page of LINKS, and we have a page of
Photographs of Interest with pictures of some of the things we get up to, on your behalf.

a petition asking:
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to prohibit discrimination in the provision of goods, services
and facilities on the grounds of sexual orientation for the remainder of the UK at the earliest point possible."
Details of Petition:
"Exemptions for religious organisations from the Goods, Services and Facilities regulations, are of great
concern and entirely unjust. The use of services, goods and facilities that heterosexuals take for granted, should be allowed
to those from the lesbian, gay and bisexual communities; the protections that minorities and religious groups have in law
should be granted to the lesbian gay and bisexual communities also; the end of a two-tier system which denies justice in the
provision of goods, services and facilities to the lesbian, gay and bisexual communities should be implemented with no further
delay and at the earliest point possible throughout the entirety of the UK."
Read the Government's response
Thank you for your e-petition concerning discrimination in the provision of goods, services and facilities
on the grounds of sexual orientation.
The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007 came into force across Great Britain on 30 April 2007.
These Regulations make it unlawful to discriminate on grounds of sexual orientation in the provision of goods, facilities
and services, the disposal and management of premises, education and the exercise of public functions. This means that, for
example, a shop owner is not permitted to refuse to serve someone because he believes them to be gay, nor is a bar able to
turn someone away because of their sexual orientation. Such behaviour cannot be right in modern Britain.
The Regulations contain an exemption for religious organisations to protect practices that arise from basic
doctrines of faith. However, where religious organisations decide to offer goods or services on a wholly or mainly commercial
basis, or enter into an agreement to provide services on behalf of and under contract with a public authority, that brings
with it a wider responsibility to serve the public as it is constituted on an equal basis - irrespective of their sexuality.
The Government is committed to the creation of a fairer and more tolerant society, and has a strong record
on the promotion of the rights of lesbian, gay and bisexual people. We repealed Section 28; introduced protection from discrimination
in the workplace; introduced civil partnerships and, more recently, protections from discrimination in the provision of goods,
facilities and services.
Whilst the Government understands that there are different and strongly held views on this subject, the principles
behind the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007 were subject to rigorous debate both within Parliament and outside,
and the Government is confident that they uphold the rights of all.

Hi Girls,
A date for your diary –
Saturday 4th October 2008
An
opportunity for a very special evening out wearing that favourite party frock or an excuse to buy that new ensemble you’ve
had your eye on.
Beaumont Cambridge have again booked the Holiday Inn,
Cambridge for a Dinner / Dance which is open to all in the Transgender community and their partners/friends.
The
2007 event was the second time at this particular venue and the feedback from all who attended was excellent:-
AND very
polite and friendly hotel staff.
We’ve
booked early to secure the same venue and to enable us to announce the date asap so that we can make 2008 an even greater
success. The function suite we have been using can accommodate about 60 comfortably for the meal and we would prefer not to
exceed that limit so book early to avoid disappointment. The hotel are again making some bedrooms available to our group at
a special reduced rate but these must be booked by 1st August 2007 after which time the rate may vary according
to demand for rooms generally. Whilst the standard room rates are a little more expensive than last year the hotel have only
increased the executive rooms by £1 to £95 and they are of a very good standard and more spacious so very good value.
Stop Press Great news following
further discussion with the hotel.
They have agreed to reduce the room rate to only £81.00
for B&B with a standard double/twin bedded room
(Executive rooms still £95.00 but well worth it)
Send those forms back so we can top last years attendance of
52 and have another great night.
For
your booking form please e-mail Veronica at
veronicafisher@dsl.pipex.com

Hi
I'm a freelance journalist on the look out for a male to female transsexual still married
to and living with their partner. The feature is for a woman's weekly magazine and so a fee would be payable
to case studies. Photographs are required and case studies would be able to read the copy prior to publication.
I can be contacted on 020 89311954 and I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Thanks,
Paula Robinson
Community Corner
I have just received this e-mail from Denise who is looking for people to talk
to or e-mail as she is a bit lonely out in Jeddah!
Hi all,
I've been a BS member for just over seven months now
and I haven't had any contact with the group.
I would love to hear from any or all of you.
I am 44 years old and married. I try to get out as much as I can but I live in the Czech Rep and work in Saudi
Arabia and so 'as much as I can' turns into Christmas, Easter and the summer.
I'm heading back to Jeddah and purdah on Tuesday until
the end of June. It might not be hell but it is certainly very tranny unfriendly. it
would certainly help my sanity if I had someone to chat with or write to.
Hope I'm not intruding or treading on any toes.
best wishes
Denise
Please do let us have your views for our newsletter. If you have any information or tit-bits that you think will be of interest
to other's, please let us know so it can appear in our monthly newsletter.
For 2008 we need to increase the number of photographs that are available to us
to use for our displays at Public events. If you would like your photograph to be used, then let Belinda know and she will
take them for you, when used for display they will not be identified, the idea is to create a display of as many different
people as possible. So please do assist us in getting a great display ready for our 2008 season of shows and events where
we shall be out there trying to gain more public acceptance and increase awareness in the general public of transgendered
people.

It would be tremendous help if you can donate
some "goodies" towards the eatery for the evenings, it gives us a chance to have a good variety, for us all to nibble
at, during the evening.
As we know that quite a few have to dash from work to be with us,
and have to miss their meal. Thanks.

Shopping Activity
Have just received these reccomendations from Susan.
Susan writes, Belinda
I wanted
to let you know about a couple of suppliers who are crossdresser friendly, in case any of the girls from the Belles would
be interested. I can certainly vouch for the service I received, and am more than happy to recommend them.
Trends
Wigs in Sheffield (opposite the Hallamshire Hospital car park) www.webwigs.co.uk/ Friendly and helpful, no problem serving CDs, and good quality wigs at a range of prices.
Bosom Friends
in Ossett (just off J40 of the M1) www.bosomfriends.co.uk/ Mail order service or visit by appointment. Very friendly and very helpful, and the forms are excellent.
I
realise they are not too close to South Lincs, but certainly worth the drive.
Housekeeping
We would like to ask all of you, attending our social support
evenings, if you would please return the cups, glasses, plates and cutlery etc., to the kitchen just before
the end of the evening, it does help speed up, our clearing up, before we get to go home. And thank you, to all those that
kindly help us to reload the car and put away the chairs etc., at the end of the evening, it is a great help. (Its
my bones creaking, that remind me, I am not as young as I used to be!! or as pretty!!) <OK!
so you don't have to agree with me about the PRETTY bit!!!>
Also, please park tidily on the extended car park as it is rather a dangerous
road for speeding, so if you can park well back from the road edge all our vehicles will be that much safer. Better be safe
than be sorry.
Please also remember that now there will be NO SMOKING at all in
any enclosed Public places, smoking will have to be out in the open & the fresh Lincolnshire air. The Hall Owners
have kindly put a bucket of sand just outside the main door to accommodate your cigarette ends safely, please use it, thanks.
To conclude, we would like to thank all of you who support us and continue to
support our social support evenings, as with out you, we wouldn't exist and we wouldn't be able to provide
help, advice and support to those of our transgendered sisters that need it, and also get our message through
to the general public that we are individuals and members of the human race and we are a very friendly bunch as
well !.
Keep well and happy and we hope to see all of you next time.
Warmest Regards, Love & Best Wishes.
P.S. If at any time you wish to stop receiving further communication from the Boston
Belles, please send me a fe-mail from the address on our mailing list, and you will be removed immediately, as we do
not wish to send mail to any of you, that do not wish to receive it. Thank you.
